I painted Deep Sea Breathe from a feeling I think a lot of us know that moment you reach the shoreline, pause, and take a deep breath without even realizing you needed it. It’s about that quiet shift when everything slows down, and you feel a little lighter.

The sky stretches wide above the sea, with soft clouds drifting across and a steady horizon that feels grounding and familiar. I kept the colours gentle layered blues and muted coastal tones to reflect that sense of space and ease, like when your shoulders drop and you can finally switch off.

There’s a softness to it, with just enough movement to keep it alive without taking away from the calm. It’s the kind of piece you can sit with, something that doesn’t ask anything from you but gives a sense of pause in return.

Framed simply to keep that light, airy feel, it’s made to slip easily into your space. I wanted it to be a quiet reminder of those small, peaceful moments we don’t get enough of the ones where you can just breathe.

As an original oil painting, this is a one-of-a-kind piece, painted by hand with its own unique texture, brush marks and subtle details. These are the little things that make an original different from a print and give it its own character.

The painting is framed and ready to hang, so you can enjoy owning the original artwork and bring a little of its atmosphere and character into your home for years to come.

I created this piece with calm, balanced interiors in mind something that quietly elevates a space without overpowering it. It’s designed for soft, neutral settings, where light woods, linen textures, and open space allow it to breathe, and I often imagine it within muted or coastal-inspired palettes where it feels completely at home.

It pairs effortlessly with subtle abstract pieces, helping to create a cohesive, considered look, and I especially love how it sits alongside natural textures like ceramics, driftwood, and glass. In terms of color, it works beautifully with warm whites, ivory, and soft beige tones, layered with sandy taupes and light oat shades for a calm, unified feel.

You can also introduce muted coastal colors like pale blues, soft sage, and gentle grays, and if you’d like a little contrast, subtle accents of charcoal, stone, or muted terracotta will ground the space while keeping that relaxed, refined atmosphere.
